How do you get better at anything? Practice, and practice. And your brain is no different. Through repetition and some strategic thinking, you can actually train your brain to perform better when needed; helping you handle the daily tasks of life and excel at work, school or anything else that comes your way. Well, this is where ‘mind over matter’ comes into play and here, we will be talking about how you can train your brain.
Meditation is a great way to improve your brain health and cognitive function. The more you meditate, research shows, the better you get at it! To train your brain, start meditating for 15 minutes a day; as you get more comfortable with it, increase your practice time until you’re up to 45-60 minutes per day.
Be More Present
When you’re at home or at work, turn off your phone and ignore it for a few hours. A Harvard study found that the more participants were involved in work related communications during their leisure time, the more likely they were to report feeling burned out. Multitasking makes you less productive, which leads to taking on even more tasks while trying to catch up—which only creates more stress.
Try To Learn Something New
Do you want to train your brain? Or at least give it a good workout? It’s easy enough. Simply pick something new and stick with it for a while. We say stick with it because if you quit too soon, then you haven’t trained your brain at all. So don’t quit. Stick with it until you have really immersed yourself in whatever new subject or skill or activity that you have taken on as a project for your brain.
So, this is how you can apply ‘mind over matter’ meaning in your daily life.
